Liath's eyes watered all over again when he said those words to her. She felt like she didn't deserve them, that she had ruined everything for them, but she knew he meant them. Rurik had never lied to her, and especially not about this. She'd been so worried about her crush on him, because she knew his history, and she hadn't wanted him to feel pressured about getting into another relationship with with another sylvari.
But he'd wanted her then. And by some miracle, he still wanted her now.
She sighed when his lips touched hers. Her eyes closed and she savored every sensation. The way his lips moved, the feel of them, how he kissed her, his taste. Anything and everything that told her the one who kissed her was Rurik and no one else. She could see him kiss her in her mind's eye, responded to the movements of his lips with her own.
No one else had ever kissed her like Rurik. No one else tasted like him. No one else had ever made her feel so good. Had her body betrayed her before; yes. But now it seemed to sing with relief that the one she loved kissed her and held her.
Liath returned the kiss with a low moan of aching need. Her back arced so she could kiss him more deeply, so his taste would flood her mouth and burn away the threatening memories. They wouldn't ruin this for her. Wouldn't ruin him. Rurik still wanted her despite what had been done to her, despite what she had done. He still loved her.
Her heart hammered as she panted for breath against his mouth. Her hooded gaze looked up at him. Pale Tree, he was so handsome. So kind. Too good for her. But she'd never give him up. "I'm so happy you love me." Her hands tightened on him. "I'm so happy you're alive..."
